Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party

My son had a Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party for his 4th birthday. There were 9 kids in attendance and it was a fun time! Besides having the usual theme plates and cups, the following is what I did.
Since pinatas can be quite expensive for something that is going to be smashed, I made my own. I took a 12 pack refrigerator soda box with some other boxes and supplies around the house and made my own Thomas pinata. It looked like Thomas and was difficult to break so it lasted longer than a regular pinata.
We also played pin the number on the train. I used blue poster board and drew Thomas. I cut out yellow number ones and each kid was able to try to pin the one on the train.
For a craft, I purchased train foam picture frames that were less than $5 for a set of 12.
After assembling the frame, I took pictures of each kid and printed them so they could have a nice keepsake. For a cake, I used a regular sheet cake and decorated it with take-along Thomas characters. Each kid was able to take a train home.
For goody bag treats, I put in rectangular packaged Oreos with a paper wrapped around it that I printed off the computer. It had a Thomas clip art and said thank you for coming to my party. I also included chocolate train lollipops that I made from a train mold, Thomas stickers, a boxed juice drink, and a small wooden train whistle.
My son loved the party and has lots of pictures of his special day. It was a low cost way to have a fun party. Several items can be purchased from Oriental Trading.
