The Princess Party
I recently attended a party for a 5 year old girl who had a Princes Party. The invitation asked that the guests (girls & boys) dress in their princess and prince costumes (gowns, crowns, scepters, jewels).
When we arrived we were greeted by the birthday girl’s older brother who announced everyone’s arrival. He didn’t want to dress as a prince (he is 8 years old) so he was dressed as a Jedi Knight. All of the other preschool boys and girls wore gowns, capes and crowns.
The games were extremely clever and easy for a group of four and five year olds. The first game was the “Ring and Bracelet Toss” where the party goers tossed little plastic rings and plastic bracelets into an open jewelry box. Everyone got to keep a plastic ring.
There was a “Cinderella Obstacle Course” where the guests visited six stations and completed a task that Cinderella would have had to do before going to the ball. The stations included mopping the floor, washing dishes, folding napkins and, finally, putting on her dress, jewelry and a crown to go the ball.
The cutest game the children played was the “Poison Apple Game”. All of the guests sat in a circle and passed a “poison apple” (it was a decorative apple) while classical music played. When the music stopped whoever had the apple in her hand had to “fall asleep” or lie down like Snow White. The last person with the apple gave each of the sleeping guests a Hershey’s kiss to wake them.
The party concluded with a traditional cake with Princess cut-outs on it. The birthday girls passed out magic wands made of Rice Krispie Treat stars stuck on wooden rods with a ribbon tied to it.
