Pirate Party - Birthday Boy

Pirate Party - Birthday Boy

WE planned a pirate party for my Son's 5th birthday recently.

ALl the guests came dressed in pirate costumes for those who didn't have them we handed out plastic swords, pirate hats, and eyepatches.

He also had a pirate party the previous year and we did bandanas instead of eyepatches. These can be found pretty cheaply at party stores and online . Also, they make great take home gifts so no need for a goody bag.

Pirate Party Games And Activities
We made picture frames shaped like treasure chests. I traced a pattern onto brown craft foam and had those cut out and then let the kids deocrate them with stickers (Pirates, gold coins. letters to add their names)

I made sure to get a picture of each child in their pirate gear so that later I could print one out and give it to them to put into the frame.

We also made magnets. Those came prepackaged from Oriental Trading Company. They were in the shapes of Sharks and an octopus and the kids glued on shirts. hooks, hats and the magnet and such.

We had a treasure chest pinata . We filled it with things like gold coins. mini pirate finger puppets and of course candy. All the kids loved that.

We also played pin the eye patch on the pirate. I found and printed a picture of a large pirate face and colored it in. Then I reinforced it with cardboard. Then we made tiny eyepatches from black construction paper. We blind folded all the kids and handed them an eyepatch. Whoever got the eyepatch closest to the eye won a prize (we found rubber ducks with pirate hats on them)

We also played a version of a hot potato. The kids stood in a circle and tossed around a stuffed pirate doll while we played a pirate song. "Yo Ho Yo Ho A pirate's life for Me" When the music stopped whoever had the doll was out. The last person standing won a prize.

Pirate Party Food Ideas - Our Menu
We kept the food simple but we did make a few pirate themed snacks.

WE had "Pirates Walking The Plank" Usually known as Ants on A Log but for pirate party purpose we renamed them. Celery with peanut butter and raisins on it.

Then we had Peanut Butter Cannonballs

Ingredients

½ cup Powdered Sugar

1 cup Peanut Butter

1 cup Rice Crispy cereal

¼ cup Coconut

Method

Mix peanut butter with powdered sugar and cereal, roll into balls with your palms and then roll the balls in the coconut. Eat 1 or 2 of them to test. Place the rest in the refrigerator for 45 minutes or longer.

And we had Pirate Snack Mix -

Goldfish. Pretzel sticks. Yellow M&M's *gold coins, and pirate and shark shaped fruit snacks
