Lets begin with Pig Pinata!
Pinata Patterns
Pinata Designs - My little Pony Pinata
Pinata Shapes - Egg Pinata
The pinata patterns like the pig pinata, monkey pinata or even Elmo pinata are based on the basic design of an egg pinata and after letting it dry, you can add features like snout, ears, legs and tail and your pig pinata is ready!

Make the basic mold of egg using these instructions.
Here are step by step instructions on pinata shapes - making the egg shaped pinata

Let your pinata egg dry completely for 12 to 24 hours before you start with adding the parts to make a pig pinata. Now for the pinata patterns of pig pinata -

How to make pinata - Animal shapes

Add the snout and ears to the Pinata -

  1. To create the snout, take a sheet of newsprint or newspaper and crumple it into a ball shape.
  2. If you think the snout is too small, add another sheet of paper and crumple it into the first sheet. Wrap long strips of masking tape around the snout so it does not come undone.
  3. Using long strips of masking tape, attach the snout to the mold.
  4. To create each ear, fold a sheet of newsprint or newspaper several times to create a small triangle resembling a pig's ear.
  5. Tape each ear to opposite sides of the mold.
  6. Apply two more layers of paper mache to your mold, covering the snout and ears, as well as the opening that has been taped. Make sure to wrap strips of paper mache around each ear - take care that you do not flatten the ears against the mold.
  7. Allow the mold to dry completely, for 12 to 24 hours.

Add the legs and tail -

  1. To create the legs, cut out four circles from the construction paper. Each circle should be roughly 5 to 6 inches across.
  2. Roll each circle into a cone and attach the edges with masking tape.
  3. Glue or tape each cone to the mold where the pig's legs should be.
  4. Add two layers of paper mache to cover each leg. Let dry for 12 to 24 hours.
  5. To make the tail, take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pen or pencil. Make sure you do not wrap it too tightly, as you will need to slip it off.
  6. Slip the pipe cleaner off the pen or pencil. Your pipe cleaner will now resemble a corkscrew.
  7. Attach the corkscrew to the dried mold with glue. You may want to use a stronger glue, such as rubber cement, or a hot glue gun.
  8. Decorate your pinata pig using acrylic or tempera paints.
  9. Create a loop at the top of the pinata pig so you can hang it up. To make this loop, mark two spots along the top of the mold, and penetrate each of these with a pointed object and pass a cord through the openings and tie the loose ends of the cord.
  10. Make sure the glue is dry before you hang your pinata pig.
If you are looking to make pinatas such as hello kitty pinata, or lion pinata, Pinata designs of My little Pony pinata can give you some basic idea on how to begin with it.
