Memorable Halloween Party

by Joana
(CA, USA)

I have a 5 year old daughter. When she was 3, we were invited a Halloween party at a friends' house. When we arrived, the house was decorated with various pumpkins, skeletons, bats & black cats (none of the scarier stuff).

There was a long table covered in a Halloween table cloth, offering very creatively made shaped sugar cookies, orange and black frosted cupcakes, pretzels, cheese & crackers & soft drinks/juices.

The kids were all dressed in their costumes, and some parents were too! The first activity included the children making small trick or treat bags using canvas bags and puff paint. Obviously the parents had to provide assistance, which was fun for everyone.

There was a room for the kids to play in that had the toys of the child who hosted the party, and a small table with Halloween party favors (small toys, rings, noise makers, etc.).

After a while, the kids marched around the house in a parade to show off their costumes, and then they danced to "scary" Halloween themed music.

This allowed the trick or treat bags time to dry. When the party was over, small saran-wrapped bundles of candies were given to the kids in their new trick or treat bags.

I do have a picture of the bag my daughter made at this party and can send it to you if you'd like!
