Fun Indoor Games For Kids To Magically Transform A Dull Day

Here are some fun indoor games for kids can help ease the frown off the face of your child, as they longingly stare out of the window on a wet and rainy afternoon.

Don't let the rain get them down. There are plenty of fun things to do in the house that require just a little bit of imagination.

Here is a list of indoor games for kids you might want to consider for those stormy afternoons.

Indoor Kids Games

Indoor Camping Trip

You don't have to be in the great outdoors to enjoy a camping trip with your child.

The living room easily transforms into a make-believe world of wilderness and wildlife, as couches provide the backdrop to a tent fashioned from blankets and chairs.

Have a highly imaginative child? Castles, space ships, and boats are also possible living room creations.

Movie Time

Indoor kids games and activities that keep your child out of the rain may become the perfect time to enjoy a movie made for two.

Dim or turn off the lights, put on the popcorn, and serve the hot chocolate or juice for your very own in-home screening.

Story Time

Instead of reading one of the many children's books you may have lying around the house, why not allow your child to create their very own masterpieces?

First, start by telling your child that with your help, the two of you will create his or her own storybook.

Give your child crayons and paper, so they may draw and color anything they desire. When he or she is finished, allow them to talk about their picture, where you then write down the "story" they relay.

After they are done, you will read back the story they have created and perhaps take the time to teach them new words.

When the assortment of indoor kids games and activities have caused you and your child to work up a hearty appetite, this might be the perfect time to teach your child how to make Jell-O.

This is an easy task to complete, which also promotes healthy eating.

When following one of the easiest preschool indoor games and activities regarding edibles, all you need to begin is two boxes of flavored gelatin that your child may mix together.

It is also the responsibility of the parent to handle the boiling hot water (which is a great time to teach your child about hot water safety), which is added to the gelatin and then stirred until dissolved.

Next, pour the Jell-O into a pan and let chill until firm. Once complete, your child may use cookie cutters to create a variety of shapes that increases the fun of this activity.

Create Your Own Rainbow Crayon

When you gather all of the broken crayons you can find around the house, the fun of this mini- "treasure hunt" doesn't end just yet.

Allow your child to arrange the broken pieces into a muffin tin you have oiled. In a preheated oven, place the muffin tin inside and allow the crayons to melt.

Once they cool off, this now becomes an art project, as your kid is able to create a work of art with a "magical" rainbow crayon.
