Fun and Educational Animal Game I play with my preschooler
I play a lot of games with my 4 year old preschool going son, as every stay at home mom does. One of his favorites is what he calls “the animal game”.
It is a simple variation on twenty questions. One person thinks of an animal, then gives a clue about that animal.
For example, I might say “I’m thinking of an animal that is very small” or “I’m thinking of an animal that lives in the desert.” The other person (or people, it is great for groups) asks questions about the animal until they are able to guess what animal it is. Sometimes my son needs a little prompting on the questions.
I often suggest things he might ask, such as what color or how big the animal is, or what it eats. I stick with animals he will know, and I don’t hold him to asking only yes or no questions.
I don’t let him watch a lot of cartoons, but he does enjoy a lot of shows on Animal Planet, so he has a wide range of animals he is familiar with. This makes the game more challenging for him, but it is just as good for any child who has been to the zoo.
