Fun And Free Kids Games to Play
Before coming up with some of these fun and free kids games to play with my little one, I always thought teaching
concept of monetary value, time can be very challenging.
Even though there is a lot of money talk involved on the whole page, I can safely call these free games for kids. Here are a few free kids games to play with your young one as they learns to identify coins and understand the value of different coins and paper money.
Having this fun activity of emptying daddy’s pockets every evening and counting the loose change in his pocket can be a very rewarding educational game to play with your preschooler. Use this opportunity to show your child the coins and explain the name and value of each. You can begin with pennies, as they are the most recognizable due to their copper color. And once your child can recognize a penny, move onto the silver coins next. Begin with the coin with the least amount of value, the nickel, and work your way up according to value. Or, you may choose to begin with the smallest (or biggest) coin and introduce the different coins according to size.
I like this one. Pretend play is always popular with little kids. For this game, you will need blank office stickers, a marker, and a small basket or child-sized toy shopping cart. Create a pretend "store" by taking small objects around the house, arranging them on a table or low countertop, and placing a sticker with a "price" on each. Have small price amounts such as 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, and 1 dollar. Give your child a small change purse containing a variety of small coins and dollar bills and have him or her pretend to go "shopping" by placing objects in the cart and you play the "cashier" and help your child "pay" for the objects. If your child is an older preschooler, use this game as an opportunity to introduce them to math skills such as addition and subtraction. Encourage your child to figure out how to "pay" for a 25 cent object using dimes and a nickel instead of a quarter.
This one can be one of very good educational games for kids.Once your child has learned to identify the different coins, understands their value, and can perform simple addition in his or her head. Give your child a jar or bowl of coins and have him or her pick out a few without showing you. Make sure your child knows exactly how many coins they are holding and what they add up to. Ask him or her to tell you the amount of money in their hand and the number of coins. For instance, they could say, "I have 18 cents and 5 coins. What do I have in my hand?" You would continue to guess which coins he or she is holding until you got the right answer - the right answer for the example is one dime, one nickel, and three pennies.
This game is a great way to teach your child how many pennies make up each type of coin. To play, you will need 10 of each type of coin, along with a dice. If your child is very young, you may want to begin with two types of coins, such as pennies and nickels. You can play with just one child, or you can play with several. The goal of the game is to earn 25 cents or a quarter, depending on how many types of coins you are using. Each child takes a turn rolling the dice and gets the same number of pennies as the number showing on the top of the dice. Every time your child gets five pennies, he or she can exchange it for a nickel. If you are playing with more than two types of coins, your child can also exchange two nickels for a dime, and two dimes and a nickel for a quarter. After playing this game, your child will understand that five pennies equal one nickel, ten pennies equal one dime, two nickels equal one dime, and two dimes and a nickel equal a quarter. Your child will also understand that fewer coins does not always mean less money. Related Educational Games For KidsPreschool Educational Games
