Candyland
| A topper in the list of the classic board games - who can forget the Gumdrop Mountains, the Peanut Brittle House, and the Molasses Swamp? The game has been updated to include candyland characters such as Grandma Nutt, Queen Frostine, and Lord Licorice who live in these candy-inspired locales.
To play the game, players move their gingerbread men playing pieces to spaces that match the colors or pictures on the cards they draw from the pile. The object of the game is to be the first player to make it to the Candy Castle. Candyland can be played by children as young as two, provided they know their colors and have a reasonably good attention span.

Chutes and Ladders
|
|
Another classic, this game has been parodied as "Eels and Escalators" on the children's television show Spongebob Squarepants. While this game requires players to know how to identify numbers and count, it is still an easy game to learn and play. As there is a certain amount of luck involved, children still have a fair chance when playing against older siblings, parents, grandparents, and babysitters. And the best of all, your child will enjoy the little stories of rewards and consequences that go with each chute and ladder.

Hi Ho! Cherry-O
| This is a fantasic game to reinforce some counting skills and matching ability in preschool kids. Hi Ho! Cherry-O is a counting game where the players race against each other to be the first one to put 10 cherries in their basket. To play the game, each player spins the arrow, which tells you how many cherries to put in your basket or tells you to take two cherries out of your basket to give to the bird or the dog. And if you are very unlucky, if the arrow lands on the spilled bucket, the player has to spill the contents of his or her bucket and start over. |

Cranium Cariboo
|
This highly entertaining and educational treasure hunt game from Cranium is quickly shaping up to be
a new classic. As they match drawings, unlock secret doors, and discover hidden treasures, young
players learn to match numbers, letters, colors, and shapes. They also learn how to take turns as
they pass the key to their playmates. Because each round lasts only 10 to 5 minutes, it is great for
very young children with short attention spans. |

Cranium Hullabaloo
| Another excellent game from Cranium. This game is slightly different from typical board games in that it gets
players up and moving around! This game comes with floor pads decorated with different colors, shapes, and
pictures. To play the game, someone turns on the Hullabaloo machine, which plays music and gives the players
instructions on how to move from one floor pad to another, such as "tip toe to a musical instrument."
After the voice on the machine gives out a number of instructions, it will tell the players to freeze
and will say, "Whoever is standing on _____, wins the game!" |
