preschool games

These Elmo games are for the little fans of the favourite Sesame Street muppet, adored by children around the world.

A perfect character for a themed birthday party.

Because he is so popular, finding Elmo party supplies is very easy.

For example, if you are serving cake - with Elmo's face on top, of course! - and ice cream, you can find paper plates, paper cups, and napkins decorated with Elmo's face at a local party supply store or online.

As the children arrive, you can play the theme song from "Elmos World" on the stereo.

And enter the Elmos world with these fun Elmo games that kids can play

Elmo Games From Elmos World

  • Elmo Games - Pin the Nose on the Elmo
  • For this game, you will need a large colored poster of Elmo and enough round red stickers representing Elmo's nose so every child gets one. These stickers will be placed on the poster.

This game is very similar to "Pin the Tail on the Donkey." To play this Elmo game, tack or tape the poster onto a wall at a height the children will be able to reach easily. Make sure each child receives a sticker with his or her name on it.

Every child will be blindfolded and spun around three times before placing their sticker on the poster. The child whose sticker is placed the closest to where Elmo's nose is the winner!

  • Elmo Games - Make Art with Elmo.
  • Making art with Elmo is one of the elmo games where kids can get an opportunity to express their creativity. You will need to print out enough sheets of paper containing a black outline drawing of Elmo's face so every child receives one.

You will also need tempera or acrylic paints in a variety of colors, paintbrushes, small cups of water, empty egg cartons for the paint, and old tee shirts or smocks.

To set up, spread newspaper on the table and tape it down so it doesn't move. This will prevent the children from getting paint on the table.

Take each egg carton and squirt a little bit of paint into each hollow. Try to use bright, cheerful colors and avoid using colors such as black or brown. Every child will receive an egg carton with paint, a cup of water, a brush, and a t-shirt or smock to wear so they do not dirty their clothes.

Make sure they are sitting down in their chair at the table before receiving their Elmo party supplies.

Give the children time to paint their Elmo printouts. When they finish, designate a wall as a "gallery," and have each child hang up their Elmo "masterpiece" to dry and admire.

  • Elmo Games - Make an Elmo Mask
  • This is another creative kid games to play in the Elmos World party with a little help from adults. You will need snub faced scissors, a manual hole puncher and tie knots.

Print out enough sheets of paper containing a black outline drawing of Elmo's face for every child. Instead of paint, you will need colored markers, several buckets for the markers, child-size scissors, several hole punchers, and a roll of string cut into pieces approximately 8 to 12 inches long.

Seat each child at a table, and pass out the Elmo printouts so every child receives one. Pass out buckets of markers to groups of three or four children and have them decorate their Elmo any way they wish.

When a child finishes decorating his or her Elmo mask, give them a pair of scissors to cut out the Elmo face and cut out circles for the eyes - this is the part where kids may need a bit of adult help.

When their Elmo is completely cut out, help them take a hole puncher and punch two small holes near the ears. This is where you will tie the string.

Once the holes are punched, tie a piece of string through each hole, place the mask over the child's face, and tie the ends of the string together to hold the mask in place.

  • Elmo Games - T is for Tic-Tac-Toe
  • For this game, divide the children into two teams. You will need a large sheet of paper, a marker, a roll of masking tape, and several index cards with a trivia question about a Sesame Street character.

To prepare for the game in advance, cut up more index cards into 10 small squares.

Glue five identical pictures of Elmo or another Sesame Street character on five of these squares. Glue five more identical pictures of Elmo or another Sesame Street character - make sure this picture is different than the one you used for the first five squares - onto the other five squares.

To begin, tape the piece of paper to a wall and draw a tic-tac-toe grid in the center, large enough for all the children to see.

Give one group five identical squares, and the other group the other batch of five squares.

Decide which group goes first. When this is decided, ask the first group a trivia question. If they answer correctly, one child from the group will take a square and tape it into one of the tic-tac-toe squares.

If they do not answer correctly, the second group will get a chance to answer the trivia question. If the second group answers correctly, they will get to tape a square on to the grid.

Continue the game until one of the two groups answers enough questions correctly to get "three in a row."
