Christmas Games For Kids Party

Christmas games for kids party with a special Christmas flavor, to make your party lots of fun.

Christmas doesn’t have to be only about food and the goodies Santa brings down the chimney with him. A kids’ Christmas party will add oodles of fun to the season. So if you are planning a party, here are some fun Christmas games for kids party.

  • Stocking Filling
  • Here is a fun team game for kids. Hang up an empty Christmas stocking for each team and supply each team with a bowl filled with wrapped candy and a spoon. Children take turns to pick up a candy from the bowl using the spoon and carry it to the stocking, then drop it in and race back to their team and hand over the spoon to the next person. The winning team is the first one to fill their stocking.

  • Rudolph Race
  • This game can be a lot of fun. All you need is some petroleum jelly and some round paper cut outs colored red.

Each child has to race to put some petroleum jelly on their nose, stick on a round shaped paper on their nose and then run to the finish line.

You will need to keep the paper cut outs ready before the party begins. If a nose falls off, the child then has to go back, put on more jelly on the nose and then stick the nose back on. You can play this christmas party game as an individual race or a relay event.

  • Snow Shoveling
  • If you are organising a party for 8-10 children this can be a fun game to play.

Have the children sit in a circle and put a spot of petroleum jelly on each nose. Each child then has a bowl and a pile of cotton balls.

At the signal to start, they have to put the cotton balls into the bowl using only their nose. They should be told to keep their hands behind their backs, or by their sides.

Allow a minute or two, then call ‘stop!’. The child with the greatest number of cotton balls in the bowl is the winner.

  • Gift Relay
  • If you have plenty of empty boxes at hand, this can be a great relay game to play.

Before the party begins, you have to keep wrap plenty of empty boxes in Christmas wrapping paper. Pile these wrapped boxes in one corner of the room.

Divide the children into two teams. Children run one at a time to their pile of gifts, unwrap one of them and put the wrapping paper in the bin provided just next to the pile, then run back to their team. The first team to unwrap all the gifts wins.

  • Where’s Santa?
  • Have the children sit in a circle and choose one child to be Rudolph, and have him or her wear a red nose.

The chosen Rudolph then has to leave the room. Then choose another child is chosen to be Santa. When Rudolph returns, he or she then has to find Santa so that the two can go and deliver presents to the children who have been good.

Santa winks at another child in the circle, who then does a Santa laugh ‘ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!” Santa keeps choosing different children to wink at until Rudolph spots who is Santa.

Another variation on this game is on the lines of classic 'Musical chairs' game.

Have one chair less than the number of children. The game starts with children standing away from the chairs with an imaginary door in front of them.

One child is choosen to be Rudolph and he leaves the room. When he or she returns, Rudolph then visits children one at a time and ‘knocks’ on their imaginary door. They can pretend to be different Christmas figures (eg. another reindeer’s name, an angel, turkey etc), one of them will be Santa.

When Rudolph knocks on Santa's door, Santa does a Santa laugh ‘ho ho ho!’ and that is the signal for all children to find a seat for themselves. So the last child left standing is the new Rudolph, and so on.
