Celebrating Autumn Party
by Cathy
My Aiden recently is just four, and recently went to a party that was a big hit. The party was around the theme of “celebrating autumn”.
The kids played games, made crafts, and ate food that was all around the theme of fall.
They played “pin the tail on the donkey”, except instead of a donkey tail they had an owl, and instead of a donkey they had a picture of a forest with a little home for the owl in one tree.
There were some healthy foods provided for the kiddos: turkey bites (in celebration of Thanksgiving) and apples (in celebration of the harvest). Of course, there was also Rice Krispie Treats with candy corn on them.
The hit of the party wasn’t the game, but the craft activity. Each kid got to pick out a mini-gourd, like what can be purchased from your neighborhood grocery store. The children also were given colored permanent markers, and drew faces on their gourd. Then the moms at the party helped the kids hot-glue googley-eyes, yarn, fabric scraps, pipe cleaners, milk caps, and other odds and ends onto the gourds. To the kids, the accessories became hair, hats, or fabulous jewelry. At the end of the party, all of the kids got to take their new friend home with them.
