Finding Dora the Explorer party supplies such as paper plates and napkins is easy. A fantastic idea for the invitation can be Dora's Map. Buy or create colorful invitations
that look like a Dora map, and include phrases
like these "Please RSVP as soon as you can so Swiper the Fox doesn't swipe your spot!" Turn the party area into the "Spooky Forest" by hanging green streamers from the ceiling and placing real and fake plants and trees around the room. You can find a large box and paint it to look like Dora's Casa, and place pieces of grey felt cut to look like stones from the Puzzle Bridge on the floor. To make the room look even more festive, put helium-filled purple, yellow, and orange balloons in different spots around the party area. Once all of the children arrive, it is time to play Dora the Explorer games! Here are some fun Dora the explorer birthday party games for kids.
Birthday Party Games For Kids
For this game, you will need a Dora the Explorer backpack. Fill it with a variety of small toys, such as rubber balls, bubbles, packages of stickers, trading cards, crayons, markers, and other items children might enjoy. Make sure you have enough toys so each child gets one. Have the children sit in the circle, and give a child the backpack. Lead everyone in singing the "backpack song," and when the song ends, the child holding the backpack gets to open the backpack without looking inside. When he or she opens the backpack, they feel around for a toy inside and when they pick one, they guess what it is. If they guess correctly, they get to keep it as a prize, and they move away from the circle. If they guess incorrectly, they can stay in the circle and will get to try again. This way, every child will have a chance to win a prize.
Depending on the age of the children, you can make the obstacle course simple or a little more difficult. For a simple outdoor obstacle course, you can use a box large enough for a young child to crawl through, a small wading pool, a soccer ball, six or more 64 ounce plastic jugs filled with water, and several pieces of twine cut into 18-inch pieces and tie the ends together so they make circles. Before setting up the obstacle course, decorate the outside of the box so it looks like the Spooky Forest. If you want to be extra creative, decorate the inside of the box too. To go through the obstacle course, the children will first crawl through the Spooky Forest box. Next, they will jump through the twine circles, and then run through the water bottles that have been arranged in a zig zag pattern. Tell the children the circles and the water bottles are Puzzle Bridge. Finally, they are to kick the soccer ball around the wading pool, which is Crocodile Lake. After they have finished kicking the ball and put it in its original spot, they are to return to the beginning by going through the obstacle course in reverse order. When each child is finished, they get a prize. You can get as creative as you like and make changes to the obstacles and let the kids get adventurous.
Before the party, take 3 x 5 index cards and write a riddle on each one. These riddles can be based on the Dora the Explorer television show, or you can make up your own. To make this game extra fun, dress up as the Grumpy Old Troll before asking the riddles. To play this game, divide the children into two teams, and have each team decide on a spokesperson. Decide which team goes first by flipping a coin. Ask the first team a riddle, and if they answer correctly, they win a point. If they answer incorrectly, the other team gets a chance to answer the question. Keep playing the game until one team reaches 20 points.
No Dora the Explorer birthday party would be complete without a treasure hunt. The props for this party include simple, colorful maps of the party area, "binoculars" created from paper cups or toilet paper rolls, string, and tape, and 3 x 5 index cards with visual "clues" drawn on them. These "clues" should match the graphics on the map. You will also need enough prizes, such as small toys or gifts, for every guest. Divide the toys into 3 or 4 groups and put each group in a separate box, with an equal number of toys in each. Before the party starts, hide the index cards and the boxes of toys or gifts around the party area, but keep one index card for each team to start out with. Begin the game by dividing the guests into three or four teams, give each child a map and a pair of binoculars, and give each team an index card. Explain to them that the index cards contain a "clue" as to where they go next. When they get to the next spot, they will find another clue. They will keep hunting for clues until they find their group's prize.
Before serving the ice cream and cake, have the children calm down by giving them activity sheets and Dora coloring pages. Sit the children down at a table and pass out activity sheets, color pages, markers, and crayons.Have them work quietly until it is time to clean up and sing "Feliz Cumpleaņos" or Happy Birthday" and eat the goodies!
