Balloon Fun

by Fran
(Seattle)

Just a short time ago we went to a birthday party for a two year old girl. She and a bunch of her friends from her pre-school were there as well as kids a little older from the neighborhood. The hosts had set up the back yard for a simple cook out. They had borrowed and used their own small picnic tables sized for kids around the yard and had crayons and papers and markers on them. In the garage where the adults could keep an eye on the kids they had set up a large screen TV and a WII set up so the kids could play interactive games. The food was simple enough (hot dogs and hamburgers) for the kids but enjoyable for the adults by the table of things that could be added to your choice of food. There were bowls of fruit and vegetables around as well as limited amounts of chips.

The highlight of the whole party was that the party mom had asked her cousin and her cousin's husband to do balloon animals for the kids. The couple had been playing around with balloons and everyone thought the kids might get a kick out of some animals. They went crazy! The moms finally had to say they could only ask for 2 and then they had to move to the end of the line to allow other kids to get a chance to have some. The couple could do swords and hats and a few animals and while the lady asked the kids what they wanted and blew the balloon up for her husband, he did most of the twisting.

This was a few months ago and the kids from the neighborhood still ask about the balloon couple.

FYI, they learned how to do it from online downloads and the instructions that come with the packets of balloons purchased at a party store.
