A Christmas to remember

by Rachael
(Brighton, CO USA)

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve Party for our boys last year on Christmas Eve.

My then four-year-old spent the day putting together special Christmas crafts, which included pinecone santas and marshmallow snowmen for all the guests goody bags.

During the party, my father-in-law slipped out while we were playing a game of "pin the nose on frosty", and the kids were pre-occupied, and he snuck into the garage to put on his Santa Suit.

Ten minutes later, he rang the doorbell, and my son answered. He was awestruck and amazed when Santa made a personal appearance at his party, and wouldn't quit pulling Santa around the house.

He gave Santa the cookies and eggnog we had planned on setting out that night before bed, and even insisted Santa take a pinecone and a snowman with him when he left. He also packed some carrots into a special goody bag for Santa to feed to his reindeer--9 carrots, to be exact.

It was definitely a Christmas memory my whole family will carry with us for the rest of our lives. I just hope it is as convincing and inspiring this Christmas Eve as it was last year!
